POCSO Implementation

Today, in a brief hearing, the Court directed Amicus Curiae V Giri to collect nation-wide data on the total number of pending POCSO cases in the country and submit it to the Court. The Court stated that data on the time period for which the cases remained pending could also be collected.

 

The Court’s Registrar Surinder Rathi was directed to facilitate V Giri’s data collection exercise. The Court allowed Surinder Rathi to work with the Secretaries of the Juvenile Justice Committees of High Courts to receive necessary information. It directed that the data collection exercise be completed within 10 days.
