Elevation of Justice KureshiNovember 7th 2019
The Union has yet to notify Justice Akhil Kureshi’s appointment as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. This despite the fact that on September 5th, the Collegium yielded to the Union’s request not to recommend him for the post of Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Today, in a brief hearing, CJI Gogoi’s Bench referred the matter to Bobde J’s Bench. Bobde J will become the new Chief Justice on November 18th.
The next hearing is on November 13th.
