Hadiya Marriage CaseAugust 16th 2017
The Bench comprising of Chief Justice Kehar, Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and A.M. Khanwilkar continued hearing the matter in Hadiya Marriage Case. In the last hearing on August 7th, the Bench ordered an NIA investigation into suspected terror links of Mr. Shafin Jahan. This has pushed this marriage case to national headlines.
Today, on the second day of the hearing, Mr. Jahan’s counsel began by revoking the objection to the NIA carrying out the investigation, subject to the Court assuring that the investigation is fair. To ensure that the investigation carried out by the National Investigation Agency was fair, the Bench directed that investigation would be carried under retired Supreme Court judge, Justice R.V. Raveendran.
The matter has been posted to be heard next on October 3rd 2017.
